Appliance Deployment: Intel Rolls Out New Products Around E5-2600 Processor Family

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

In conjunction with its recent E5-2600 processor family launch, Intel’s (News - Alert) Enterprise Platforms and Services Division (EPSD) announced that the first wave of its new range of accompanying channel hardware is shipping. The total expanded portfolio will triple the number of server motherboards and chassis systems for channel partners.

It was back in November of 2011 that Intel first revealed it would soon be launching eight new board families and four new chassis families for the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 product family to allow partners to gain access to a much more robust array of offerings.

Additionally, Intel has created 19 new motherboards and 37 new chassis that can be utilized in different types of applications from high density, to pedestal, 1U and 2U rackable units. Boasting innovative modular designs for more than 100 unique SKU combinations, these boards also contain Intel I/O Expansion Modules that offer I/O flexibility.

"You can mix and match into solutions to support specific needs of your customers," said Diane Bryant, general manager of the Data Center and Connected Systems Group.

If this large amount of hardware weren’t enough, this week Intel EPSD also introduced robust software aimed at the small to medium-sized business vertical. The Intel Server Continuity Suite offers a cost-effective solution for software that can fully support and maintain the Intel Rack and Pedestal Server, as well as Intel Modular Server products. A major benefit of this suite includes a very simple-to-use server management solution that provides real-time continuous backup, point-and-click systems management and virtualization capabilities.

"You asked for a broader complete set of products, so we've tripled them," Bryant said in a recent article. "You asked for offerings beyond hardware and we have replied." "This is high end capability in an integrated solution for the small purchaser," Bryant concluded. "It is a great way of bringing continuity to small businesses in a low-cost, easy-to-deploy solution. And it increases income by 25-50 percent on every server sold."

In related industry news, NEI (News - Alert), an appliance deployment specialist, has unveiled products that are built on Intel’s Xeon processor E5-2600 product family, which enable clients to see increased performance, memory, security and scalability. To read the full report, click here.
