Appliance Deployment Provider NEI's Notes from RSA 2012

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

Taking place from Feb. 27- March 2, 2012 in San Francisco, the RSA (News - Alert) Conference 2012 brought together a wide array of industry thought leaders to discuss the most recent technology and trends around protecting enterprises from cyber attacks. NEI (News - Alert), an appliance deployment specialist, is all too familiar with the consequences of these types of hackings and participated in this year’s event.

At the conference, which company officials noted as the “largest and strongest they had ever seen,” several important keynote sessions yielded some noteworthy facts, according to a recent blog post.

Newly introduced mobile devices that are entering the corporate network are completely revolutionizing the enterprise security world in two distinct ways. First, these devices are always connected, and two, in most cases, they are used for both work and personal tasks. The BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) trend is growing, and employees are increasingly selecting their own devices and then using them within both the workplace environment and to complete other unrelated personal tasks.

In addition, as you can’t go a day without reading about a large company being hacked successfully, hackings are now viewed as a constant threat -- and much more advanced than ever before. To combat this, enterprises need to band together to implement the most up-to-date security precautions available.

Also, a large number of companies are beginning to transition to a cloud environment. However, security issues arise within the cloud, and corporations need to ensure that their data will remain safe when stored there. Encryption is key here, as it will help to keep files confidential at all times.
