Application Deployment Webinar Shows How to Grow Profits through Challenges

A recent webinar titled “Solving Application Deployment Challenges to Grow Profits” was presented in conjunction with TMC and NEI (News - Alert).

During the informative event, webinar officials agreed that ISVs and OEMs must “consider innovative ways to deliver and market their application,” as they “confront the realities of securing, managing and supporting a greater mix of physical, virtual and cloud-based deployments.”

Guest moderator Forrester Research (News - Alert) led a panel discussion with NEI and Dell that spoke about ways to implement value-add technologies that save time, money and resources.

Glenn O’Donnell currently serves infrastructure and operations professionals as a senior analyst at Forrester Research and acted as presiding moderator during the webinar. He is widely regarded as a top thought leader in IT service management, IT operations, and the broader social implications of technology evolution, with specialties in data center automation and operational excellence.

He said what he’s noticed over the years is a growing trend of software changing into an appliance model. “Is it overwhelming today? No, but it’s moving in a positive direction,” he said.

NEI’s Jeff Hudgins (News - Alert), vice president of marketing, said not to underestimate the importance of simplicity when it comes to judging the appeal of an appliance. “Customers have been slow to accept” some appliances, he said, but are gradually becoming more comfortable with them.

The presentation emphasized a few major points: how to better automate and deliver secure application updates and OS patches, and new ways to monitor the health and performance of the platform and your application.

Moreover, presenters also discussed how to calculate the actual ROI associated with holistic application management, and how proper platform selection will influence reliability and improve customer satisfaction.
