NEI Recaps RSA Conference 2011

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

The year 2011 marked the 20th anniversary of the RSA (News - Alert) Conference. The event always attracts the greatest of the innovative thinkers in the field, which enables visitors to learn about the IT security industry’s most important issues—through interactions with colleagues, well known industry specialists, as well as new and established companies. As the IT security field continues to expand, the RSA Conference works to connect security professionals all around the world.

According to a recent blog written by Jeff Hudgins (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at NEI, day one was a little slow, but the number of attendees in the next two days grew in huge numbers. The floor traffic on the later days was consistently heavy, and the activity in the booth was great.

The majority of the show continued the trend of being mainly focused on mobile and cloud security. Multiple technology providers showed off their latest software and hardware innovations designed to improve access and control for both mobile devices and cloud based security applications. Hudgins commented.

Intel (News - Alert) was present at the show and went from being almost invisible at the 2010 show, to a widely present participant this year. The company had a huge booth in a much desired section of the floor- the center, but also participated in partner booths like Symantec (News - Alert).

Hudgins commented that a demo that especially peaked his interest was on Intel’s laptop access control. Intel showed how the company helps protect low level software against attacks, where malware is present and trying to take over. The company’s Trusted Execution Technology (Intel TXT) is a hardware solution that represents the behavior of key components within a server. The system constantly checks the consistency in behaviors with the configurations against a “known good” sequence.

During the RSA Conference 2011, NEI hosted nine partner and customer presentations that helped attendees visualize what current technology trends will be in 2011.

NEI (News - Alert) is a provider of purpose-built platforms, appliances and support services for application software developers, OEMs and service providers serving storage, security and communications markets worldwide.
