Market research firm Infonetics Research (News - Alert) has released the 2010 edition of its Optical Network Hardware in EMEA: Europe, Middle East, and Africa report.
'While Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) is the market share leader for the overall EMEA region, Huawei is the leader in every sub-region except Western Europe," the report's authors say, adding that Huawei (News - Alert) is "especially well positioned in the fastest growing sub-region, Central and Eastern Europe.'
Andrew Schmitt, Infonetics Research's directing analyst for optical, said that Infonetics forecasts a 12 percent revenue gain for the EMEA optical network hardware market in 2010 over 2009, "led by incumbent telco investment."
And over the long term, growth in the EMEA optical network hardware market will be driven by a spending recovery in Western Europe, access network deployments in the Middle East, strong growth in metro WDM for wireless backhaul in Central and Eastern Europe and a shift toward WDM and away from SDH in Africa.
Earlier this month Infonetics released its first quarter Content Security Appliances and Software and Network Security Appliances and Software market size, market share, and forecast reports.
Infonetics also sees healthy growth in long haul WDM due to demand for more IP interconnectivity and submarine line terminal equipment, noting that while Western Europe is the largest optical network hardware market in the EMEA region, "Central and Eastern Europe are the fastest-growing."
Infonetics' Optical Network Hardware in EMEA report tracks Synchronous Digital Hierarchy and Wave Division Multiplexing optical hardware for metro and long haul networks sold by vendors in the EMEA region, including Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The service provides vendor market share, market size, and forecasts through 2014 by country and region.
Companies tracked in the report include ADVA, Alcatel-Lucent, BTI, Canoga Perkins, Ciena, Cisco, Cyan, ECI, Ekinops, Ericsson, Fujitsu, Huawei, Infinera, MRV, NEC (News - Alert), Nokia Siemens, Nortel, Sorrento, Sycamore, Tejas, Tellabs, Transmode, Turin, Tyco, Xtera, ZTE, and others.
