Metaswitch Networks, a provider of advanced carrier services and communications software solutions, and Varaha Systems, a provider of fixed-mobile convergence technology, announced they have been selected by DSM (News - Alert) Telecom, a Nova Scotia Canada-based company, to provide enhanced FMC features to DSM's customers.
DSM Telecom provides carrier-grade hosted PBX (News - Alert), SIP trunking and FMC solutions. Additionally the company offers voice, conferencing and professional services such as bill analysis, network design and Wi-Fi optimization.
The combination of Metaswitch and Varaha's uMobility solutions deliver advanced features to customers over virtually any network using the most advanced smartphones such as Apple's iPhone, RIM's BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia (News - Alert), company officials said.
DSM Telecom thinks that the combination of Metaswitch and Varaha is key to their service delivery model. With the new solution, DSM's customers can take advantage of any available broadband or wireless network, making the office or home completely mobile, company officials said.
"In a highly competitive market, DSM has created a more compelling services story," Bob Harvey, vice president at Metaswitch Networks, said. "DSM can now provide the complete Metaswitch solution to their customer base by combining advanced desk phones with industry leading smartphones."
"DSM saw the value in combining Metaswitch's leading network technologies and solutions with uMobility," Prasad Govindarajan, CTO at Varaha Systems (News - Alert), said. "By leveraging this partnership, DSM can create a completely virtual office environment where employees have access to all their advanced features from their smartphones regardless of where they are."
Dan Merzetti president, DSM, said Metaswitch and Varaha have accomplished a seamless integration to abstract the network's features and deliver those to the mobile environment.
"This ability, along with the DSM team of over 75 years combined telecom experience in delivering complex solutions to the Atlantic Canadian market, makes this a natural fit and one that will serve our region well," Merzetti said. "Many of our clients are looking to us for a new generation of converged network solutions that improves their communications while reducing cost."
