Integra Telecom announced the selection of Metaswitch Networks to upgrade its voice service network.

A facilities-based, integrated communications carrier, Integra operates in 11 western states. The company said that it differentiates itself by staffing customer care, plus technical and account management professionals within each of the markets that it serves.

Integra Telecom (News - Alert) has been operating on multiple software and hardware platforms as a result of growth via acquisition. The company said that it’s collaborating with Metaswitch to upgrade its voice services platform. By upgrading its networks, the company expects to consolidate those systems therefore streamlining its network operations to better serve its customers.

Slater said that the company’s decentralized business model is a clear reflection of their commitment to meeting the needs of customers.

Craig Heidgerken, vice president of engineering at Integra Telecom, said that most of the vendors that the company evaluated tried to make Integra fit into their product’s capabilities.
