By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Metaswitch, a provider of advanced carrier services, announced it is opening regional headquarters in Singapore, one of the busiest trading hubs and largest financial centers in the world.

The new headquarters is located on Fullerton Road in Singapore. It will support a growing customer and employee base through offering advanced carrier services and will help drive new sales throughout the territory, company officials said.

With the new Singapore office, Metaswitch will expand its advanced carrier services offerings across the Southeastern Asia. It also complements their existing operations in Australia, Guam and Hong Kong, along with partner activities in several other countries in the region. The new office will also serve as a training center for partners and customers.

Currently, Metaswitch boasts over 600 service provider customers around the globe. And has customers in eight countries in Southeastern Asia.

“With its vibrant business-friendly environment and central location, Singapore was a logical choice when deciding where to locate our Southeastern Asia business office,” said Prem Viswanathan, regional director at Metaswitch, in a statement.”We look forward to an expanded presence in the region and introducing more operators to our proven solutions for carrier-grade Voice over IP, hosted business services and mobile applications.”

The advanced carrier services provider also announced its participation at CommunicAsia2011 that will be held at the Marina Bay Sands, from June 21st to the 24th.

Simon Dredge (News - Alert), director of technical marketing at Metaswitch, will present "A Tale of Two Cities," a paper exploring options for mobile operators when competing against over-the-top applications, the announcement said.

Metaswitch Networks offers technology and solutions that power the migration of communications networks to open, next-generation architectures. The company recently introduced extended CommPortal Communicator, a customizable unified communications client for PCs, smartphones and tablet computers.
