Cloud Telecomputers Completes Interoperability Testing with Advanced Carrier Services Provider Metaswitch

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Cloud Telecomputers, a software provider for business applications and IP telephony, announced that Glass, its Android (News - Alert)-based platform for desktop business smartphones, has completed interoperability testing with Metaswitch. Metaswitch is an advanced carrier services provider supplying next generation infrastructure and applications to network operators, and is now Partner Certified.

“We are pleased to welcome Cloud Telecomputers' (News - Alert) Glass platform to the growing list of Metaswitch Mosaic Certified solutions,” said Stefan Knight, VP of Strategic Alliances at Metaswitch, in a press release.

“By certifying Glass through the Mosaic Program, we ensure that Metaswitch customers gain access to a highly-advanced communications platform that complements our hosted PBX (News - Alert) solution,” Knight added.

With the Glass platform, Metaswitch customers can benefit from saving a large amount money and increased productivity, which are both important aspects of advanced carrier services.

“Metaswitch customers can now experience Glass, the first truly smart IP phone,” said Cheryln Chin, vice president of marketing at Cloud Telecomputers. “They can now enjoy all the rich enterprise telephony capabilities they are used to, combined with the Smartphone-like functionality and flexibility of the Glass platform.”

Cloud Telecomputers will ship phones to customers in Europe, Asia, and North America in the summer of 2011. Infrastructure vendors, OEMs, systems integrators, and VoIP service providers will benefit from Glass because of the benefits of requiring less time to market, lower investment in R&D, and the ability to customize phone features and application suites for business users.

The Glass platform runs on the Android OS and offers applications providers the benefits of an open development environment. Flexibility, scalability, and the ability to integrate their applications with calling features and a large user screen are some of the great advantages that the Glass platform offers.

Recently, Cloud Telecomputers announced that Anthony Gioeli has been named president and chief executive officer. Gioeli replaces Walter Kortschak, who has served as interim CEO and will continue in his role as co-chairman. Gioeli will also serve on Cloud Telecomputer's board of directors.
