Advanced Carrier Services: Metaswitch, Tail-f Systems to Offer Advanced Management for Network Protocols

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Metaswitch, a provider of advanced carrier services, just announced a strategic partnership with Tail-f Systems (News - Alert) to offer an integrated solution that speeds up product delivery and lowers risk for manufacturers.

The new solution integrates Metaswitch’s MPLS, GMPLS, MPLS-TP and IP Routing control plane software with ConfD, which is Tail-f System’s leading solution for building network management applications, company officials said.

According to the release, the combination gives developers a production-ready set of northbound interfaces including command line interface (CLI), Web interface, SNMP and NETCONF to manage all aspects of the control plane.

Metaswitch provides the technologies and solutions that are powering the migration of communications networks to open, next-generation architectures.

“Depending on the application, management framework integration may require the lion’s share of portation work for protocol solutions,” said Clive Partridge, general manager of Metaswitch’s Technologies Division, in a statement. “Our pre-integrated solution eliminates the heavy lifting.”

Tail-f Systems provides configuration management software for networking equipment and network management systems.

“With the rapid deployment of new network services and next-generation technologies, network equipment providers must opt for advanced carrier services to reduce costs and time-to-market in order to stay competitive,” according to Fredrik Lundberg, CEO, Tail-f Systems.

“This pre-integrated solution from Tail-f and Metaswitch will go a long way to helping our customers achieve this goal,” Lundberg added.

Metaswitch recorded significant growth in 2010. The company’s results for the 2009/2010 financial year that ended Aug 31,2010 showed that revenue grew from $113.7 million to $134.5 million, or an 18 percent growth, with pro-forma EBITDA margins sustained at 20 percent, Kevin DeNuccio (News - Alert), CEO at Metaswitch, told TMCnet in an interview.
