Metaswitch Forum Speaker to Discuss IP Communication for the Next Decade

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Occam Network's Juan Vela (News - Alert) will discuss “IP communications in the next decade at the 2010 Metaswitch Forum, according to Metaswitch officials.

Vela will discuss how service providers can benefit from the combination of Metaswitch and Occam Networks' (News - Alert) products when preparing for the future of voice communications, in the partner session "IP Communications in the Next Decade."

As service providers aim to keep up with the latest advanced IP voice and data services, Metaswitch officials say, “network operators must look to strategic vendors as investment opportunities. The compatibility of Metaswitch's core session control, call feature server and media gateway products with Occam Networks' IP-over-Ethernet multi-service access platform allows telcos to deliver a host of voice, data and video services.”

Vela will also discuss the signaling protocols that allow the interaction of these next-generation services.

The presentation will happen Thursday, Sept. 23 at 2PM EDT at the Sebastian i3, Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando.

Now in its seventh year, the Metaswitch Forum is an event for Metaswitch Networks' customers, prospects and partners. The agenda is designed for communication service providers, event organizers say, “helping them to remain relevant in the ultra-competitive industry of telecommunications.”

The event attracts over 700 attendees and includes keynote speakers, technical and marketing breakout sessions, formal training, live product demonstrations, an extensive expo of over 50 interoperability partners and continuous networking opportunities.

Earlier this week TMCnet reported that Calix (News - Alert) and Occam Networks entered into a definitive agreement for Calix to acquire Occam Networks in a stock and cash transaction valued at approximately $171 million, which is approximately $7.75 per outstanding share of Occam Networks stock.
