By Tammy Wolf, TMCnet Web Editor

Following completion of certification testing with VMware, 911 services company 911 Enable’s Virtual Emergency Gateway (News - Alert) (V-EGW) is now a VMware Certified Virtual Appliance.

A virtual appliance providing affordable, enterprise-class E911 management functionalities for small- and medium-sized businesses, the V-EGW runs on VMware ESXi 4.x or greater to supply dependable services up for up to 1,500 users. In addition to transmitting information to the 911 Enable (News - Alert) Emergency Routing Service, which transfers emergency calls and detailed location data to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) throughout the U.S. and Canada, the V-EGW also offers automatic IP phone tracking, on-site security desk notification, and support for remote workers.

The V-EGW has been designed to assist organizations in meeting state and local E911 regulations, as well as reduce capital costs.

“VMware is a global leader in virtualization,” said Lev Deich, director of 911 Enable. “By certifying our Virtual Emergency Gateway through the VMware Technology Alliance Partner Program, our customers can deploy the V-EGW with ease and be assured of seamless interoperability with their virtualized environment.”

As an appliance not requiring dedicated hardware, the V-EGW can be easily installed without additional expenditures on power spending, hardware maintenance and upgrades, monitoring, support and compatibility.

911 Enable, a division of Connexon Telecom, Inc., is affiliated with the VMware Technology Alliance Partner Program, which supports commercial software, hardware and storage vendors in their efforts to bring VMware’s valuable resources to shared customers. Therefore, the certification of this virtual appliance will surely enhance 911 Enable’s ongoing efforts to bring innovative location management technologies to the IP telephony market.
