911 Services Imperative to Business Communications: Check the Tradeshow Floor

By Jaclyn Allard, TMCnet Web Editor

While 911 Enable (News - Alert) works to provide emergency services to IP-based communications networks, there are still many individuals who have no emergency plans in place. As was recently reported on TMCnet, only 46 percent of participants in the 2010 American Public Safety Survey indicated that they have an emergency plan or 911 services solution in place. Of the group, a little over 60 percent felt they had “adequate knowledge” of their area's specific emergency and 911 services procedures.

Communications is an important part of our everyday lives, and 911 services has become an integral part to any communications solution. In the business world, optimal communications are essential to ensure quality interactions, protect business opportunities, and provide efficient and accurate 911 services. With so much at stake, it is imperative that voice management take priority within the enterprise or SMB. For those interested in the latest announcements in this space, Enterprise Connect (News - Alert) provided the perfect platform. Enterprise Connect 2011 took place Feb. 28 – March 3 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

Among the exhibits was 911 Enable, which released version 3.3 of its Emergency Gateway (News - Alert) (EGW) appliance. The EGW automates and simplifies E911 management for organizations of all types and sizes. Version 3.3 includes an expanded suite of E911 capabilities in addition to the EGW's automatic phone tracking, security desk notification, and reporting and monitoring features.

911 Enable appears to be a busy bee, as advertised in its first of the year blog post, “Happy New Year! It’s just the beginning of 2011, but already it’s shaping up to be a busy year! One of the highlights of every year is, of course, the trade shows where we get to learn about all of the newest UC and IP telephony developments and demonstrate our solutions. We’ll be making several appearances this year, so make sure you come visit our booths and say hi!” A warm greeting indeed, and one to be extended at each sponsored exhibit at such tradeshows as Enterprise Connect  2011 and Cisco (News - Alert) Live 2011.”

Next on its tradeshow tour, Comptel Plus, a preeminent networking event for innovative communications companies, to be held March 20 – 23. 911 Enable will be an exhibitor at this show; stay tuned for exhibit updates and 911 Enable news.
