Boston Power's Sonata Powers New Line of Commercial Notebook PCs from ASUS

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Consumer notebook vendor ASUS has picked Boston-Power’s Sonata lithium-ion battery platform for its new line of commercial notebook PCs – the B Series models.

The new B Series model notebooks from ASUS are expected to be shipped this month and they come packed with new technologies, a complete set of business features and best-in-class warranties for demanding business users and these notebooks are capable of offering efficiency, reliability and security along with excellent durability.

Boston-Power has claimed that its lithium-ion battery technology platform is based on a design that emphasizes a whole system approach capable of powering end applications ranging from portable consumer electronics to electric vehicles and next-generation utility energy storage. The battery technology platform is based on a flat, oval-shaped prismatic cell design with external dimensions equivalent to two conventional 18650 lithium-ion cells. The Sonata batteries are based on this platform and they support the company’s value proposition by delivering high performing, fast charging, safe, and green battery power.

The Sonata batteries on ASUS notebooks can increase productivity, lowering the total cost of ownership and supporting the environment. This enables ASUS to offer a three-year warranty on the battery, matching the industry-best three-year warranty on the B-Series notebooks.

Rudy Magna, director of sales at ASUS Computer International has commented that their customers look to ASUS to provide cost effective solutions that include innovative features such as the Sonata Long Life Battery, which offers not only long term dependability but is also environmentally friendly.

Boston-Power’s vice president of marketing, Sally Bament, added that at present their portable computing devices are an extension of users and integral to their work and leisure-time activities. To fully capture the benefits of mobility, users are seeking dependable, high-performance, safe and environmentally sustainable batteries. Boston-Power has established a global reputation for leadership in delivering those solutions. Teaming with ASUS is a tremendous endorsement of Sonata and their lithium-ion battery platform.
