The demand for consumer electronic devices has been increasing in United States, especially in key segments like 3DTVs and Mobile Internet Devices/Tablets.
In-Stat (News - Alert) reported that between the years 2010 and 2011 the shipment growth for the above mentioned two segments will be 142 percent and 231 percent respectively.
As the installed base for these segments continue to expand steadily, 3DTVs and MIDs/Tablets will also go ahead to represent a bright spot for CE manufacturers and content providers.
“The U.S. installed base units for 3DTVs and MID/Tablets will double from 2010 to 2011 and on through 2013,” said Stephanie Ethier, Research Analyst at In-Stat. “In fact, In-Stat expects the total U.S. installed base of CE devices to almost double between 2009 and 2013.”
A recent research by In-Stat showed that the U.S. installed base for smartphones will reach 198 million by the year 2013. It also projected that mobile PCs will continue to lead the computing category in the number of units shipped through 2013. The research shows that though the U.S. CE market has a great future, maturing segments like portable media players (PMPs) and desktop PCs will face a declining growth rate all through 2013. It also projected that by the year 2013; there will be 1.9 billion installed CE devices in the US.
‘U.S. Consumer Electronic Device Tracker: Shipments and Installed Base’ is In-Stat’s latest report which provides U.S.-specific unit shipment and installed base forecasts for a broad range of consumer electronic devices include, Cellular Devices like mobile phones, feature phones and smartphones. The list also includes Computing Equipment like desktop PCs, laptops, net books, MIDs/Tablets. Portable CE and Stationary CE are also a part of the list of consumer devices.
