Cgogo Collaborates with Mobile Phone Manufacturer to Enhance Mobile Search

By Rahul Prabhakar, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Cgogo Technology Co. Ltd., a well-established name in the mobile search industry, provides search engine solutions to both mobile handset users and mobile telecom operators.

Recently the company tied up with Lenovo, the Chinese handset manufacturer, to further its services in the fields of mobile search and information search.

Cgogo possesses several global IPRs and innovative technologies. The company is seeking partnerships in China in order to extend specialized searches related to mobile Internet, WAP, and Intranet, for a vast spread of 300 million mobile subscribers in the country.

Cgogo is regarded as a tough competitor in the mobile search industry. The company is committed to enhancing the quality and scope of next generation mobile search technologies. To accomplish this, it has forged tie-ups with other leading mobile handset manufacturers such as Nokia (News - Alert), who have incorporated Cgogo’s “local search” model into their N-series handsets based on the S60 Platform. Another company that has decided to partner with Cgogo is the China Telecom (News - Alert). Several other manufacturers of handset devices and operating systems have come forward to provide mobile searching resources to the company. The association between mobile search engine solutions providers and mobile handset manufacturers is considered crucial for the expansion and growth of the mobile search industry.

Mobile handsets only allow a limited view of search results, therefore the user only read as much. Keeping these limitations in mind, the mobile search engine will be designed to extend “accuracy search” for its users.

Presently, Nokia is concentrating on developing a city query specific “Cgogo search plug-ins” for its handsets. On the other hand, Lenovo is working on a pre-set link, referred as the “life relax link.”

The combined efforts from these companies will yield mobile handsets with continuous and pervasive search facilities, meeting the demand from the younger generations in China.
