Loren Shalinsky, senior analyst of Wireless LAN research at Dell’Oro Group said network spending had slowed in 2009. However, as confidence in the economy returns, businesses will return to a traditional four-year replacement cycle for their WLAN equipment.
Shalinsky also said that the growth of Wi-Fi enabled devices, including cellular phones, e-book readers and netbook computers will drive WLAN equipment growth, as consumers and businesses look for ways to connect these
devices.
The report has also forecasted that the strongest growing WLAN market segment over the next 5 years will be the enterprise segment. In fact, it is expected that by 2014, the enterprise segment will exceed the size of the small office, home office segment, which is, at present the largest segment.
