O2 Wireless to Enter into an Agreement with Best Buy

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

O2 Wireless has entered into an agreement with Best Buy to provide the O2 Wireless Universal SIMCard and O2 Wireless airtime recharge cards. These products will now be available at Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile stores, Best Buy kiosks and online at BestBuy.com.

The effects of a precarious economy are now being felt in all telecommunications sectors. Those who once flocked to fancy gadgets even at the risk of paying higher airtime charges are now rethinking it based on their expenses.

At such a time, the new O2 Wireless service promises that customers can say goodbye to their expensive cell phone contracts and purchase as much or as little airtime as they want. The recharge cards provided by the company start at only $10 for basic service and provides lots of flexibility to the customers, says the company.

As customers look for ways to save money, O2 offers them an option to do so with services such as low per minute rates and rollover minutes. O2 Wireless Service comes with 50 FREE minutes (added upon activation) and the customers do not have to enter into any long term contracts to avail this benefit.

Pete Grubb, VP of Sales & Marketing at Locus Telecommunications, which owns the O2 Wireless products, commented, “The relationship with Best Buy is a very important partnership for O2 Wireless. It provides access to our simple, flexible, carrier-grade service offering to millions of budget-conscious Americans who are looking for any way to save money in this difficult economy and provides a service that addresses the need of wireless consumers at all life-stages and income levels.”

The options provided by O2 are not limited to the airtime charges alone. The company also provides an opportunity for the customers to recycle their old GSM phones in addition to the company packaging its SIMCards in an eco-friendly, recyclable “Green Box.”

O2 Wireless is also now available at Fred’s Discount Stores. It offers O2 Wireless handsets and airtime covering more than 600 locations throughout the South, Southwest and Midwest. Fred’s Discount Stores is a one-stop shop catering to all the requirements of consumers in the South and Southwest regions.
