Prepaid Wireless Booms, Answers to New Markets

By Stefania Viscusi, TMCnet Assistant Editor

The prepaid wireless market is recognizing promising growth in an industry where MVNOs are struggling to find better distribution and as a new market that demands options and better control of their wireless expenses emerges.

According to a news release, "nearly 80 percent of mobile users in Europe and Asia prefer using prepaid, causing many analysts to see prepaid as the inevitable future of consumers cell phone habits."

Prepaid wireless companies are at an advantage as they target not just those with low income or credit barriers, but have been recognized now by a large market of wireless consumers who want control of their wireless expenses and are turning to prepaid as a solution.

With prepaid wireless, users are able to control cost and usage without worrying about an unexpected bill at the end of the month, or not a cell phone in emergency situations because of financial obstacles.

To further push the profitability of this market, key distribution methods and targeted product development provide consumers with even more enticing reasons to buy into prepaid.

Airlink Mobile, a provider of wireless products and services, offers specifically these types of distribution methods to help increase their wireless customer base and have been able to recognize a triple customer base from their efforts. Specifically, the company set up convenience store distribution as well as aggressive customer offerings to drive profit.

In a statement to the press, Airlink Mobile's founder and CEO David Stanek commented on the company success in targeting an overlooked market in the wireless industry that drove their growth rate above 800% since March 2006. Stanek also commented on the companies push to keep up with booming demands from consumers and retailers as the market continues to take off.
