Enablence Technologies Inc. has entered into a so-called “Market Development Agreement” with Osaki Electric Co., Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan.
As part of the agreement, the Osaki Electric Group will co-market and sell selected components from Enablence’s Optical Components and Subsystems Division to expand its market position in Japan and globally.
Osaki Electric Group and Enablence, which have been co-developing a Tunable Optical Dispersion Compensator Module and a MSA Wavelength Division Multiplexer and Demultiplexer product line, would now co-market the products worldwide.
“Osaki is building a strong portfolio of optical component and subsystem products in its Information Communications Products Group. This group within our company has enjoyed dramatic growth as we expand our business in the utilities sector to include communications infrastructure products to enable our clients to grow their optical networking and service capabilities,” said Yoshihide Watanabe, president and chief executive officer of the Osaki Electric Group.
Osaki is a diversified company in Japan supplying the global utilities sector with measurement and control equipment such as watt-hour meters, current limiters, instrument voltage and current transformers, electric power supply control systems and telecommunication and auto meter reading systems.
Its optical product portfolio includes optical auto meter reading systems, optical couplers, splitters, optical main distribution frames, fiber optic patch cords, cables and optical transmitters.
Osaki Electric Co. Ltd’s flat-panel display assembling equipment business provides assembly-line equipment for plasma and liquid crystal display panels, IC cards and various equipment for semiconductor, printed circuit board manufacturing and packaging. The company also has a real estate business group.
“Enablence is pleased to expand its relationship with the Osaki Electric Group given its strategic global contacts, particularly in the Japanese market. We see the global utilities sector as a growing market for our optical components, subsystems and systems products as these companies either implement their optical infrastructure or get involved in providing communications services beyond their traditional utility services.” said Arvind Chhatbar, chief executive officer of Enablence Technologies Inc.
