According to a statement issued by leading intellectual-property licensing company Patriot ( News - Alert) Scientific, Robert Bosch GmbH and The TPL Group have agreed to the terms of a patent license for the Moore Microprocessor Patent (MMP) Portfolio. The terms of the transaction were not made public.
The Moore Microprocessor Patent Portfolio consists of intellectual property that is jointly owned by publicly-held Patriot Scientific Corporation and the privately held The TPL Group. The TPL Group undertakes the marketing, licensing and defense of patents in MMP portfolio.
“The signing of The Bosch Group, a large international company, represents another validation of our ongoing licensing activities for the MMP Portfolio through TPL. Since the beginning of 2008, we have announced 12 new licensees for the MMP™ Portfolio,” said Rick Goerner President and CEO of Patriot.
Robert Bosch GmbH and its 300 subsidiaries and regional companies spanning 50 countries, form a part of the Bosch Group, a worldwide provider of automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods, and building technology.
Attracted by the immense scope of licensed applications using the MMP Portfolio design techniques, several global manufacturers of end user products are obtaining MMP Portfolio licensees. The number of licensees of the MMP Portfolio technologies has touched 40. These include industry leaders such as Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, Kenwood, Mattel, Nokia, Philips ( News - Alert), Sony and Toshiba.
The MMP Portfolio patents enable designs that not only have better performance but also lower costs. These designs find application in consumer and commercial digital systems such as DVD players, cell phones and portable music players to communications infrastructure, medical equipment, and automobiles.
