By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

3K Computers has announced the Windows CE powered 3K RazorBook 400 Mini Notebook Ultra Mobile PC. This second generation of its top-selling RazorBook 400 mini-notebook computer weighs just under 2 lbs, includes a 7-inch LCD TFT Display and a full-size keyboard for an MSRP of $299.

3K’s RazorBook 400 is available at most major online e-tailers. Resellers and Value-Added Resellers also have the option to purchase directly from Ingram Micro (News - Alert).

Dan Jacobs, CEO, 3K Computers said this  is very exciting news for them since they are bringing a mini-notebook to market for the price of $299 that can support Remote Desktop functionality and comes equipped with Microsoft (News - Alert) Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player. Jacobs added that Microsoft Windows CE also features the familiar Windows interface that U.S.-based end users have been requesting daily through their support forum.

The RazorBook 400 is a perfect low-cost portable Internet appliance for mobile professionals and students who want Internet browsing capabilities on the go. Boasting a boot-up time of less than 8 seconds, the RazorBook 400 can be turned on and off instantly just like any other appliance in the home.

As the energy-saving RISC architecture processor is fan-less it offers completely quiet computing with very low energy consumption. The RazorBook 400 comes without a spinning hard disk drive, is shock-resistant and touts 4GB of solid-state storage for customer’s documents or media files.

Will Jordan, vice president of Sales, 3K Computers pointed out that the scheduled release of the second generation RazorBook 400s is set for the end of July to early August, right in the middle of the back to school buying season. He believes this is going to be one of the hottest back to school items on the market since it's so affordable and such an essential for any student.

Jordan added that they have been in talks with a large number of the large retail outlets about stocking the RazorBook 400s in their retail stores and finds it to be very exciting news for their company.
