Sky Detective Receives First High Volume Shipment of SD30 Tracking Device

By Mani Soundararajan, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Sky Detective (News - Alert) today announced that it has received the first high volume shipment of the SD30 wireless tracking device from its manufacturing facility in China.

The SD30 is a portable tracking device with advanced capabilities to track, secure and recover valuable assets. The SD30 uses Qualcomm's (News - Alert) CDMA gpsOne technology and has the ability to accurately locate individuals and assets even in impaired environments. The new device is also capable of detecting and alerting if a defined geographical boundary is compromised.

"The first high volume shipment of the SD30 is a major milestone in bringing this advanced tracking device to market in the United States and on a global level," said Jerry Thompson, CEO of Sky Detective.

"We have every reason to believe that the SD30 will become the industry standard in a matter of months and we have the capacity in place to meet the demand for the SD30. We have a substantial number of preorders to fill from customers across industries, including law enforcement and package shipping, and we anticipate a vast increase in demand going into 2009,” added Thompson.

Thompson added that the introduction of the SD30 was a major development in the Location Based Services industry and expects SD30 to be widely available in the United States later this summer.

Headquartered in Eagle, Idaho, Sky Detective provides state-of-the-art global intelligence, security, and GPS/CDMA assisted asset tracking solutions used for prison and jail reduction, offender and gang control, and package & equipment tracking in the United States and around the globe.

The SD30 comes with a lithium ion battery can power the device for 10-21 days and can be extended to more than 100 days by a proprietary enhancement. The device also has a programmable button can be used for on/off, location fix, battery status, CDMA coverage status and can also launch a custom application. A built-in mini USB port allows for easy access to charging the battery and a tri-color LED provides quick visual status indication.

Powered by Qualcomm's gpsOne technology, the SD30 can track assets inside buildings, closed packages and containers without the use of external antennas. This is made possible by use of an assisted-GPS (A-GPS) position-location technology developed by Qualcomm. This integrates data from both wireless network base stations and GPS satellites for a highly-accurate location description, enabling location-based services for wireless devices that work in all types of terrains and dense metropolitan areas.
