Wireless TV Amplifier Helps Dads with Hearing Loss Enjoy Television Again

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Clarity, a division of Plantronics (News - Alert), has unveiled a new wireless TV amplification device, the Clarity Professional C120, just in time for Father's Day.

According to the company, this will make a great gift on Father’s Day. Especially for those fathers who enjoy spending time with their children watching a movie or cheering on their favorite sports team, who may suffer from hearing loss and can sometimes find it difficult to clearly hear the programming.

C120, with the help of patented Clarity Power technology, amplifies incoming sounds up to 50 decibels - not only increasing the volume, but also making it easier for the user listen to sound more clearly.

The C120 is also the only television listening product to offer telephone ring notification through the user's headset. This means a hearing impaired person won't miss a call when they are watching TV.

The C120 makes use of an infrared technology to wirelessly transmit sound from a television, stereo or MP3 player to a lightweight amplified headset and can be used in any place that broadcasts infrared signals for the hearing impaired including movie theaters, public arenas, religious venues, museums and more. Additional features include adjustable volume, tone and balance and two rechargeable batteries with up to eight hours of listening time.

The C120 is available for a suggested retail price of $189.95 through Clarity Authorized Distributors and online at. The company is offering free shipping when ordered before Father's Day.

Carsten Trads, president of Clarity said that 75 percent of people with a hearing loss, who find watching television difficult, often compensate by turning the television volume up to unsafe levels for those who want to share in the pastime. "The C120 will return the enjoyment factor to listening to music or watching television and make both activities comfortable for everyone," he said.
