By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributing Editor

DivX has announced that it has granted DivX Certification to six new Blu-ray DVD players.

Newly DivX certified Blu-ray DVD players include Panasonic’s DMP-BD30EE, Philips’ (News - Alert) BDP7200 and Denon’- DVD-2500BTC1B, DVD-3800BDC1B, DVD-3800BDSP and DVD-2500BTSP.

DivX is a digital media company that provides consumers with high-quality video experience across any kind of device. DivX creates, distributes and licenses digital video technologies. They are used on PCs, the television and mobile devices.

DivX also offers content providers and publishers with a comprehensive solution for distribution of secure, high-quality digital video content. DivX is simplifying the video experience to enable the digital home.

DivX technology provides consumers with excellent compression and visual video quality to deliver media-rich features for home or on the go media devices. Being a popular media format, it compresses huge digital files in such a way that eight movies can fit on a DVD for playback on any DivX Certified or DivX Ultra Certified player.

DivX Certification Programs are offered to provide quality and interoperability standards for devices that support DivX video. DivX certified device will play all of DivX videos. If a device doesn't carry the DivX logo, it means the device is not been certified by DivX and will not play DivX videos correctly. At present DivX Certified products include DVD players, recorders, home theater systems and mobile phones.

"The end of the format war creates more opportunity for Blu-ray products," said In-Stat (News - Alert) Principal Analyst, Michelle Abraham, Converged Markets & Technologies, Multimedia. "In-Stat expects worldwide shipments of Blu-ray players to reach 23 million in 2011. DivX is well-positioned to become a standard feature on Blu-ray devices, just as it has shipped in millions of DVD players worldwide."

"Blu-ray technology clearly represents an important standard for the future of digital media, and we are pleased that our partners continue to recognize DivX technology as an important feature on next-generation devices," said Kevin Hell, CEO of DivX, Inc. "The DivX logo has become a symbol of a high-quality digital video experience on any kind of device or platform."
