AMD (News - Alert) launched the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series at CES 2008. The series is a new family of discrete graphics which are very effective for high-definition gaming and video in notebook PCs.

Notebook PC users can see the difference with Radeon HD 3000 series and can experience the full power of HD through graphics processing which is designed to satisfy the most demanding mobile users.

The ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series features the latest industry-standard technologies and is specifically designed for the forthcoming AMD notebook platform "Puma," which the company says can deliver the ultimate visual experience.

Matt Skynner, Vice President of Marketing, Graphics Products Group, AMD, said that AMD's ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series is the most feature-rich family of notebook graphics solutions. He also added that these new mobile graphics give leading notebook manufacturers like ASUS the ability to create solutions with outstanding new features including next-generation quality, yet battery-efficient, visual experiences in notebooks.

With the support of Microsoft DirectX 10.1, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series is said to advance to the next generation of HD gaming and life-like realism in the graphics. A higher level of visual quality through new lighting and rendering techniques designed to enhance the realism and quality of 3D games can be achieved.

With the support of New PCI Express 2.0, the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series is said to give faster throughput and greater overall system performance as compared to PCI Express 1.1 and of all it is ideal for high-performance gamers.

With HD 3000 Series, the notebook users can play the latest Blu-ray and HD-DVD movies in full-HD 1080 pixel resolution using ATI Avivo HD Technology. This will also free the CPU for other tasks. The notebook users can connect to a variety of displays, with a choice of digital outputs, featuring DVI, HDMI and the next-generation Display Port support, on a notebook platform. These new notebook graphics chips are going to show excellent performance-per-watt thereby  delivering exceptional battery efficiency for enthusiast users.

Alvin Chou, Senior Notebook Product Manager of ASUS, said that the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3600 series can turn graphic power up a notch in the ASUS M50 and the F8 notebook series. He also added that with the innovative graphics solutions from AMD, ASUS can deliver notebooks to the market that offer good visual performance for high-definition movie playback plus HD gaming with good battery usage.

AMD showcased the upcoming notebook platform "Puma" which has ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series graphics which will join AMD Turion Ultra notebook processors and the forthcoming AMD RS780 chipset to deliver powerfully entertaining, power-efficient mobility. AMD plans to launch "Puma" in Q2 of 2008.
