Swedish handset maker Neonode says it will launch its latest mobile phone, Neonode N2, in the United States in 2008. Neonode N2 touchscreen mobile phone is believed to be the latest handset comparable to Apple’s (News - Alert) iPhone, which has turned out to be a hit in the U.S.

 

The Neonode N2 is not a new phone, because it has been available in Europe since Q3 2007, but this will be the first time that the handset is officially made available in the United States.

 

The phone features the company’s patented neno user interface and zForce optical touch screen technology. It also sports a 2-inch screen, 2MP camera, MP3 Player, MiniSD card slot, Bluetooth, and GSM quad band connectivity.

 

The most recent development in mobile phone technology is the emerging popularity of the touch screen. Neonode N2 uses advanced touch screen technology, the zForce optical touch screen. It doesn’t need any hard pressure or stylus but works quickly and accurately by reacting to sweeping and tapping signals on the screen.

 

“Our main focus is the user experience, which is the true key behind Neonode N2 — starting with how consumers interact with Neonode N2, enabled through zForce, the optical touch screen, down to simplifying how applications and content can be accessed, which we solved through the combination of zForce and neon, the user interface,” said Mikael Hagman, President and CEO of Neonode.

 

Neonode is showing the Neonode N2, along with its other intuitive technologies, at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
