Westinghouse Digital Electronics and Pulse ( News - Alert)~LINK have launched what they claim is the world’s first fully integrated wireless HDTV. The High Definition LCD TV features Pulse~LINK’s integrated CWave UWB Wireless HDMI technology, and will be on display at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show.
Vice president and general manager, Commercial Business Unit, Westinghouse Digital Electronics, John Araki said their focus at Westinghouse Digital has been centered around delivering the best HD has to offer.
He explained that HDMI digital transport provides the full HD resolution their customers expect and indicated his company is extremely impressed with the performance and capabilities of Pulse~LINK’s Wireless HDMI solution.
“The fact that it is fully integrated into our HDTV display is unprecedented in the industry and will certainly raise expectations for high quality ready-to-mount wall display products in the marketplace,” said Araki.
The company has planned the initial commercial release of Westinghouse Digital Wireless HDMI HDTV to the B2B digital signage market in Q2 2008.
Thanks to the integration of CWave Wireless HDMI, digital display products can be mounted anywhere in the room without needing to run data cabling from the TV to the content source. Video data is encoded using the JPEG2000 video codec . This is the same codec used by movie theaters for “Digital Cinema,” and thus provides a secure high quality HD experience. Pulse-LINK’s Wireless HDMI solution is equivalent in both content protection and visual experience to a wired HDMI connection.
“This fundamentally raises your expectations of what a TV should be and what it should do,” said Bruce Watkins, Pulse~LINK president and chief operating officer.
According to Watkins, watching this Westinghouse Digital HDTV is an experience much like watching true High Definition for the first time. He believes that as soon as they see it, people will want this Wireless HDMI HDTV in their living room.
Westinghouse Digital Electronics provides a full line of innovative LCD displays as well as other consumer electronic products that deliver the latest digital content for the ultimate entertainment experience.
