Sony Computer Entertainment America Launches Mega Campaign to Advertise PLAYSTATION3

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) is going to launch a whole new advertising campaign covering TV and online media, to promote its PLAYSTATION3 (PS3). The campaign aims at highlighting the high-energy and entertainment value of PS3 in addition to its USP of exclusive content.



 
Among the advertisements are some of SCEA’s most awaited first party titles like Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Warhawk, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Also featuring are soon to be released third-party exclusives like Haze from Ubisoft and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots from Konami.
 
The campaign has been developed in association with TBWA\Chiat\Day. It also draws attention to additional features like the Blu-ray Disc (BD) movie functionality. The campaign will also publicize, for the first time, PLAYSTATION Network and cutting edge services like PLAYSTATION Home.
 
“We are confident that this new and exciting advertising campaign and our new $399 price point will go a long way in helping to further spark PS3 sales as we head into the ever important holiday buying season,” said Peter Dille, senior vice president, marketing and PLAYSTATION Network, SCEA. “With a focus on the great library of software titles coming to PS3, this advertising campaign is a perfect vehicle to get that message across and show the breadth of content that you can only find on PS3.”
 
The online component of the advertising campaign has already been unveiled on October 4. The television advertisement was launched during yesterday’s match between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, won by the undefeated Patriots.
 
The TV launch of the campaign will coincide with the launch of the new 40GB PS3 in retail outlets across the country at a price point of $399. The campaign, composed of two :60 and :30 second spots, will be televised on a gamut of network, cable, and syndicated television outlets. This, the biggest ever advertising campaign for PS3 will also include clips from other third-party software titles like Burnout Paradise, WWE SmackDown!, Assassin’s Creed, Madden NFL 08 and Time Crisis 4.
