BellSouth has announced it will implement a packet voice
solution from Sonus Networks to offload Internet traffic
from its circuit-switched network. The Sonus GSX9000

Yipes Will Offer Bandwidth To
More Than 3,500 Office Buildings
Yipes Communications has acquired the rights to provide
scalable bandwidth on demand to more than 3,500 office
buildings nationwide. A federal bankruptcy court
approved Yipes' bid for the rights, formerly owned by
in-building carrier Broadband Office, which is in
Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Yipes has signed access
agreements with nine major real estate entities to offer
high-speed flexible data services to building tenants.
The company paid $2 million in cash and $2.5 million in
equity, and also forgave a $900,000 debtor-in-possession
bridge loan made to Broadband Office to gain the rights.
