Yipes Communications has acquired the rights to provide scalable bandwidth on demand to more than 3,500 office buildings nationwide. A federal bankruptcy court approved Yipes' bid for the rights, formerly owned by in-building carrier Broadband Office, which is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Yipes has signed access agreements with nine major real estate entities to offer high-speed flexible data services to building tenants. The company paid $2 million in cash and $2.5 million in equity, and also forgave a $900,000 debtor-in-possession bridge loan made to Broadband Office to gain the rights.
