Growing in demand in the enterprise marketplace is the need for security for corporate data. For this, biometrics and other secure access solutions have presented a number of solutions. Now, DigitalPersona a provider of biometric authentication solutions is incorporating their fingerprint biometric solutions into an ergonomically designed keyboard to offer office environments the authentication and security they demand.

The solution also helps to relieve desktop clutter by reducing the need for extra peripheral devices on the desktop and removes the need for two different USB devices like a keyboard and a fingerprint reader and instead integrates both necessary pieces of equipment into one offering.

The DigitalPersona U.are.U Fingerprint Keyboard includes their optical placement technology to offer reliability and accuracy.

According to a news release, the offering also "works hand-in-hand with DigitalPersona Pro 4.1, the company’s latest authentication software for users who require enterprise secure sign-on and remote access using Citrix and Microsoft (News - Alert) Terminal Services (MTS)."

Fingerprint biometrics offer PC security that restricts unregistered users from gaining unauthorized access.

Among the new features included on the keyboards are new "hotkeys" that are programmable and help speed up a user's workflow.

Sapna Cooper, biometrics industry analyst at Frost & Sullivan commented on the new offering in a statement to the press, "The integration of fingerprint readers into keyboards symbolizes a significant step in the acceptance process for fingerprint biometrics. This will help DigitalPersona expand its reach into corporate environments."
