Privaris’ BPID Security Device revolutionizes existing “contactless” physical and logical security. The patented, portable wireless device uses a fingerprint to verify the identity of its owner prior to releasing a stored credential and granting access to a door, vehicle gate, computer, or other IT asset.
The BPID Security Device is distributed by Privaris’ channel partners. SARGENT, a market leader in locksets and access control systems, was the first to launch the product, using the brand name BioFob.
The wireless device combines physical and logical access in a single unit which employs low frequency (125KHz) RFID and Bluetooth. It also solves the implementation issues associated with most biometric applications and reduces implementation costs. The device works with 90 percent of existing proximity readers, using HID and Indala technologies, and with Sargent’s Profile Series door locks.
The device also protects users’ personal privacy. All fingerprint processing is performed on the device – and users’ biometrics are stored on it, eliminating the need for a biometric database, connectivity, and other complex infrastructure.
The device is cost effective and can increase ROI through the elimination of password maintenance and integration with existing physical security infrastructures.
In terms of data security, the device offers secure data transmissions using industry standard encryption algorithms.
