Epygi Launches IP PBX that Blends IP Phone Features and Key-System Functionality

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributing Editor

IP PBX and gateway manufacturer Epygi (News - Alert) Technologies announced general availability for the latest addition to its line of small and medium business telephony appliances, the Quadro 6L.

Epygi designed the Quadro 6L for environments that require multiple ringing phones and shared trunk appearance visibility, according to company officials.

Noting that the Quadro 6L opens a new market segment for Epygi, Mario Cuello, president at Epygi, said in a statement, “There will always be work environments where all employees are responsible for answering phones. Retail is a prime example. Warehouses, service shops, small dispatch centers or help desks come to mind that require a Key System solution.”

He pointed out that Quadro 6L works with a number of Aastra (News - Alert) IP phones to display which trunks are busy or on hold.

He also said that since the phones and switch are IP, there are nearly limitless possibilities for economical enhancements. He added: “Features like voice mail, auto attendant, on-hold music or messaging, caller ID with distinctive ringing, call pickup, paging and intercom are built in.”

Epygi’s Quadro 6L provides for as many as ten local extensions through LAN connection. At present, users can choose from Aastra’s 57i, 55i, 9133, or 480i IP telephone sets to benefit from the Key System features.

Each has buttons that can be programmed for phone lines and additional features, according to Cuello. Additionally, Quadro 6L includes six separate FXO ports for up to six PSTN lines, and also a WAN port for optional Internet calls.

“Sophisticated auto-recognition and auto-configuration capabilities between the Quadro 6L and Aastra's IP phones simplify installation and operation,” commented Cuello.

Earlier this month, Epygi announced compatibility with Red Box Recorders to provide customers with voice recording solutions.
