MTS (News - Alert) Allstream, Inc., today unveiled Secure Connect, a true “in-the-cloud” security capability. MTS Allstream is a wholly owned subsidiary of Manitoba Telecom Services, Inc.

Secure Connect not only utilizes the Company's national Business IP/MPLS offerings but also embeds the latest Unified Threat Management (UTM) technology into MTS Allstream's national IP network architecture. It is a new benchmark for the delivery of firewall and VPN services to customers.

“This is another example of MTS Allstream leading with innovation in Canada's communications marketplace,” said John MacDonald, President Enterprise Solutions, MTS Allstream. “Unlike traditional enterprise security solutions, which are perimeter based and rely on the customers' own infrastructure, Secure Connect takes network protection to a new level, incorporating best-in-class technology to deliver clean and secure bandwidth to customers of all sizes. Excited as we are to enable firewall capabilities of this type we are even more excited for the future, where building on our network investments we will be able to offer complete “in-the-cloud” UTM solutions, including DDoS, IDS/IPS, Anti-X, content filtering and more.”

Ideal for business customers with remote sites and branch offices, Secure Connect is designed to enable high-performance and secure network connectivity through IP-enabled communications. It also allows inherently secure VPN connections via the public Internet, at the same time eliminating the need for expensive and complex private data networking. It ensures easier connectivity of mobile employees to their corporate network, which translates into increased productivity.

“In addition to the security benefits, Secure Connect will also allow customers to find new efficiencies in their IT service areas, reducing the load on network managers who, using conventional solutions, are constantly being challenged to stay one step ahead of evolving threats,” added MacDonald. “It reduces the need for up-front capital expenditures in security hardware and software while its centralized policy control and management tools also drive long-term operational savings for customers.”
