BRIEF: Japan ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan in space technology


Feb 27, 2013 (Trend News Agency - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The launch of Azerbaijan's first telecommunications satellite Azerspace/Africasat-1 contributes to the development of space sector in the country, Takashi Sasakawa, head of the Japanese delegation and Senior Vice President of Mitsubishi Electric, said in a statement at a workshop dedicated to the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan in the space sector.



According to Sasakawa, the fact that 2013 has been declared a 'Year of information and communication technologies' in Azerbaijan is a significant event which will play an important role in the further development of this sector in the country.

According to Sasakawa, the Japanese side is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the field of space communication. Holding this workshop in Baku, attended by representatives of 27 companies and enterprises of the ICT sector, contributes to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in this field and in the space sector.


"The cooperation between the two countries in this area will address a number of social problems," Sasakawa said.
