Chicago Public Schools Selects Radiant RFID's Virtual Asset Tracker

Austin, Texas, Feb 26, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Chicago Public Schools (CPS), the nation's third largest school district serving over 402,000 students, has selected Radiant RFID, LLC to implement Virtual Asset Tracker (VAT), the company's RFID-based enterprise asset management solution that will manage the school district's highly diverse and mobile inventory of more than $450 million in capital and controlled assets.

"During the RFP process, Radiant proved to be the best suited among competitors to solve complex asset management challenges across many campuses and we look forward to working with them as we begin to implement the solution within Chicago Public Schools" said Peter W. Rogers, Chief Financial Officer at Chicago Public Schools.

By automating data collection, RFID technology greatly reduces human effort and error. Radiant is currently working with Chicago Public Schools to replace its current bar code system with an RFID solution for approximately 100,000 assets at 200 campuses while upgrading data visibility district-wide. Radiant's solution will ultimately encompass all 650+ campuses in the district.

VAT, a complete solution consisting of UHF Gen 2 RFID technology and Radiant software, will enable CPS to accurately report expected and exact locations of large numbers of mobile assets, including technology, video, AV and kitchen equipment, and furniture, instruments, and vehicles.

VAT automates detailed reporting of asset location and ownership. The solution will present this data in many formats to all CPS departments, including accounting and finance, information technology, property management, and administration. Users will be able to create custom reports and view system dashboards to make better decisions for the utilization of assets.

Kenneth Ratton, Radiant RFID Executive Vice President, said, "Radiant's solution is specifically targeted at customer like CPS with highly complex tracking problems, extremely large numbers of items, and diverse locations. Having successfully deployed customers such as FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety, covering millions of items worth billions of dollars, we are confident that CPS will realize the benefits of our end-to-end approach quickly." Designed specifically for educators, Radiant's K-12 Solutions encompass IT asset tracking, student attendance reporting, mustering, and bus ridership. They can be deployed as individual solutions or an integrated suite leveraging a single infrastructure investment.
