Verizon 4G LTE network now available in Litchfield county, Connecticut

Feb 25, 2013 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- US wireless communication services company Verizon Wireless announced on Friday the activation of new fourth generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) network coverage within six Litchfield County, Connecticut communities, New England.

This new 4G LTE activation by Verizon covers Harwinton, Litchfield, New Hartford, Plymouth, Thomaston and Torrington.

In 2012, Verizon said that it completed USD256m in wireless network enhancements across New England, increasing the company's regional network investment to over USD3.3bn since its inception in 2000.

Verizon had launched its 4G LTE network two years ago, which is reportedly currently available to over 273.5 million people across the US. Verizon's 4G LTE network offers speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) (Nasdaq:VZ) and Vodafone (LSE:VOD)(Nasdaq:VOD).
