Spacecraft Test Center Being Built in Tianjin


TIANJIN, Jan 14, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Tianjin Economic and Information Technology Commission disclosed on January 9 that supersized spacecraft general assembly and test center was being built in Tianjin now.

As scheduled, the center will finish main work construction in 2013, be completed and delivered for operation in 2014. Undertaking general assembly, testing and experimenting of manned space station, the center built by China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) is located in Tianjin Binhai New Area and covers roughly 100 mu of land (1 mu = 666.67 square meters). With construction area being around 100,000 square meters, the center is divided into 9 functional modules including general assembly and testing area, thermal test area and mechanics experiments. It will be able to produce 6 to 8 supersized space vehicles and meet demand for manned space stations, supersized communication satellites, large remote sensing satellite and large high-precision deployable mechanism.



Tianjin is now accelerating construction of aerospace industry represented by Airbus 320 plane, helicopter, unmanned plane, launch vehicle and supersized spacecraft.
