Ericsson signs new agreement with Etisalat Egypt

Jan 04, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Ericsson, a provider of telecommunications equipment, data communication systems, and related service, has signed a new agreement with Etisalat Egypt to transform the telecom operator's radio network to enable a full range of converged information and telecom services.

As part of the deployment, Ericsson will provide Etisalat Egypt with RBS 6000 radio base station technology. This will enable energy-efficient and cost-effective operations while allowing the operator to meet the demands of its growing subscriber base with better and faster mobile internet connectivity and quality mobile coverage throughout the country.

The RBS 6000 will minimize Etisalat Egypt's operational expenses and reduce environmental impact but will also ensure smooth transitions and upgrades to new technologies in the future. Deployment of the Ericsson technology will also allow for the development of new, high-speed mobile broadband services and web applications.

Isyl Yalcin, president of Ericsson, North East Africa Unit, Ericsson Region Middle East, said: "We are proud to build on our longstanding relationship with Etisalat Egypt by taking on this project. We understand that Etisalat Egypt is always looking to provide its subscribers with the latest services and highest levels of quality networks and we are committed to supporting them with our solutions, technologies and expertise to achieve this. It will also allow us, at Ericsson, to continue to progress in our quest to enable a truly networked society in Egypt and the region where everything that can benefit from connectivity will be connected." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
