SES offers satellite broadband services for consumers in France

Dec 31, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- SES S.A., a provider of satellite communications and broadcasting services, has announced that it is offering satellite broadband services with download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s for consumers in France.

The new service uses Ka-band capacity on SES' ASTRA 2F satellite and is available with immediate effect via France Telecom-Orange's satellite broadband affiliate NordNet, the company said.

The broadband package called Internet Satellite JET features download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s, VoIP telephony and High-Definition TV from 29.90 euros per month. NordNet uses new generation end-user terminals provided by Gilat Satellite Technologies, the company added.

Patrick Biewer, Managing Director of SES Broadband Services, said: "SES is again pioneering satellite broadband services in Europe, being the first operator to offer equal features to terrestrial services and at a highly competitive price. We are convinced that the new Ka-band offer presents a great solution for users in remote locations and will significantly drive product sales in France." "We are delighted that we can now offer high-speed internet connections with download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s to households anywhere in France," said Francis Piet, CEO of NordNet. "Thanks to the new Ka-band capacity on SES' ASTRA 2F satellite and SES Broadband Services' years of experience in the satellite broadband market, we are certain that our new service package, Internet Satellite JET, will be a success in France." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
