Samsung hits out at Ericsson with sales ban suit [Cihan News Agency (Turkey)]

(Cihan News Agency (Turkey) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEW YORK (CIHAN)- Electronics giant Samsung has hit back at Ericcson filing a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission requesting for a sales ban on some of Ericsson's products.

Ericsson made the first move towards the end of November when they filed a lawsuit against Samsung in the U.S. after which two years of negotiations failed to reach a conclusion.

"The dispute concerns both Ericsson's patented technology that is essential to several telecommunications and networking standards used by Samsung's products as well as other of Ericsson's patented inventions that are frequently implemented in wireless and consumer electronics products," Ericsson announced they were taking Samsung to courts last month.

Samsung however observed that they had tried to settle the issue with Ericsson in good faith and failure to do so had resulted in them having to file for a sales ban of a few Ericsson products.

"We have sought to negotiate with Ericsson in good faith. However, Ericsson has proven unwilling to continue such negotiations by making unreasonable claims, which it is now trying to enforce in court," Samsung said in a statement. "Under such circumstances, we have no choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our company." "The accused Ericsson products include telecommunications networking equipment, such as base stations," Samsung said.

Ericsson previously noted that Samsung had obtained licenses for its patents back in 2001 and 2007 but had failed to renew its license for the third time.
