Geeya Technology Wins China Unicom STB Procurement Project


CHENGDU, Dec 21, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Chengdu Geeya Technology Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 300028) announced yesterday that it had received a notice informing it of having won a bidding.

The bidding, which was invited by Zhejiang Wasu Media & Network Co., Ltd. (transliterated) and the Shaanxi branch of China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. (NYSE: CHU, SEHK: 0762, and SHSE: 600050), is concerned with the centralized procurement of set-top boxes (STB) for China Unicom's Shaanxi branch. Geeya Technology has won two bid sections concerning the procurement of high- and standard-configuration STBs.



The amount and price of the STBs to be procured is yet to be decided, so how the performance of Geeya Technology will be influenced can not be estimated at present, according to the company's chairman Zhou Xuhui in an interview.

Geeya Technology mainly researches, develops, manufactures and sells front- and back-end software and hardware for digital TV system and provides relevant services. The company is also engaged in providing overall end-to-end solutions for small- and medium-sized digital TV operators.


Geeya Technology mainly expands its market by selling digital TVs to operators after signing sales contracts with them. The company has long been cooperating with broadcasting and TV operators. The winning of the bidding mentioned before signifies that the company has explored a new telecom operator client.
