Four Weddings Canada - the #1 Canadian series on Slice(TM) this past winter - canvassed 40 brides from season two to reveal note-worthy facts on budget, themes, entertainment, and food as Canadian couples across the country get ready for Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day proposals and subsequent wedding planning.

What are couples spending on their big days Not shying away from a hefty financial commitment, the average total wedding budget was $31,625. Budget was not the only thing that was surprisingly big - the average number of guests at each wedding was 178 attendees. In addition, waiting until your thirties to tie-the-knot is the norm, with the average bride being 30-years-old and the groom 32.5.

When it comes to themes, formal is in. The majority of brides (82.5%) described their wedding as formal with the country, barn and mason jar themes only resonating with 2.5%. Some brides took their themes to a whole new level with an eco-conscious bash featuring biodegradable decor, an aerospace theme complete with an airplane cake and even a monster-truck theme.

The popular formal theme also translated to the brides and bridal parties' style. The glaring majority of brides (70%) donned a veil for their ceremony. Fifty five percent opted for a formal updo, followed by 33% who wore their hair down. Brides also confessed that 37% were sporting a form of hair extensions.

What about bridesmaids Should they all be perfectly matched The majority (60%) had uniform wedding party dresses while 23% opted for a mismatched style with a uniform colour and 10% chose different colours and styles.

Today's brides have also raised the stakes when it comes to entertainment. Almost 1 in 5 (17.5%) couples performed a choreographed dance for their guests. Some brides included unconventional performances such as an Elvis impersonator and a silk aerial acrobat. Other popular entertainment included DJs (93%), a band (18%), photobooths (18%) and a slide show or media wall (5%). What about picking the perfect wedding song The top three songs were The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri and At Last by Etta James.

What's hot when it comes to dessert The cupcake trend was not popular with Four Weddings Canada brides as 92% opted for a cake and 25% chose cupcakes (and some both!). Most couples (58%) also had a sweet table What did brides state as the biggest 'food faux pas' Thirty-two per cent of brides can't stand buffets. Some other interesting food items from this season included a popcorn machine, gelato pops and even a late night food truck.

Following the same much-loved format as the first season, each episode of Four Weddings Canada Season Two sees four rival brides attend and judge each other's weddings, rating them out of 10 in four categories - the venue, the food, the overall experience and the dress. The bride with the highest total score wins a luxurious honeymoon getaway.
