Devolo Selects Sigma Designs for Advanced Powerline Solution
(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MILPITAS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/28/12 --
Sigma Designs® (NASDAQ: SIGM), a leading provider of System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for home entertainment, connectivity and control, announced that Devolo®, the European leader in Powerline communication (PLC) solutions, has introduced its innovative Diversity technology adaptors based on Sigma Designs' SoC CG2210 HomePlug AV® with ClearPath™ technology. The CG2210 chipset supports Diversity technology by way of enabling the additional use of the protective ground wire, creating multiple transmission channels for overcoming line impairments such as noise, undesired filtering effects of surge protectors and high attenuation when working over multi-phase power networks. The results are overall throughput improvement, higher robustness and better coverage, all essential in providing carrier grade IPTV services to multiple TVs. Remote management capabilities such as TR-069 supported by the CG2210 in the Devolo Powerline 200 AV Diversity + adaptor offers service providers convenient access to monitor, diagnose, troubleshoot and upgrade firmware resulting in an overall reduction of service calls, returns and maintenance costs.
"We are proud of the Diversity 200 product line," says Joerg Baumann, director of project and business development at Devolo. "The combination of Devolo's many years of expertise in the field of powerline and Sigma Designs' ClearPath technology has enabled us to create a robust, high quality solution for service providers to reduce TOC and increase customer satisfaction and loyalty."
"Our HomePlug AV technology with ClearPath used in Devolo's Diversity+ adaptors makes this a game-changing solution for home AV networks," said Gabi Hilevitz, Sigma Designs general manager, connectivity business unit. "ClearPath is a unique technology, developed by Sigma Designs, which offers superior performance in terms of coverage and throughput with the added benefit of being a cost efficient option for service providers."
Sigma Designs and Devolo will conduct a free webinar on November 28th on the revolutionary Powerline 200 AV Diversity + adaptors and the advantages introduced by the CG2210 HomePlug AV SoC. To register go to http://webinars.telecoms.com/webinar/powering-up-the-home/
