Bloxx Introduces iOS Browser to Help Schools and Organizations Manage Apple iPad Content Filtering On and Off Network

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) November 19, 2012 With Apple’s iPad now outpacing PC purchases by K-12 schools across the U.S.*, Bloxx Inc. is introducing its latest Bloxx Web Browser for iOS6 to help schools manage their Web content filtering and internet access policies on the Apple devices they issue or make available to students and teachers.

This new iOS Browser from Bloxx, Inc., a leader in commercial and education Web content filtering and email security, lets organizations easily extend the protection of their Bloxx Web Filter or Bloxx Secure Web Gateway by enforcing Web access policies for iPads, iPhones, and other Apple technologies used on and off-network.

“Given that seventy K-12 schools and universities now represent the top 100 largest deployments for the iPad**, school administrators and IT professionals face the daunting task of complying with Children’s Internet Protection Act-mandated standards on the mobile devices they issue, while also protecting their IT and networking assets from malicious applications,” said Eamonn Doyle, President of Bloxx Inc.

When installed on Apple devices, the Bloxx Web Browser will filter Web traffic whether the device is connected to an organization’s Wi-Fi network or used off-network, for example, at home or connected to a public Wi-Fi network. In addition, because all Web requests are channeled through the Bloxx Web Browser, even if the iPad has 3G or 4G connectivity access policies are still enforced.

“iOS6 provides significant improvements in speed and accessibility, which ironically creates concerns for security professionals trying to enforce use and access policies,” continued Doyle. “Installing the Bloxx Web Browser for iOS, in conjunction with a school’s or company’s Bloxx Web Filter, offers the benefits of Apple’s new operating system with the content filtering protection for devices on or off the network.” The Bloxx Web Browser works in conjunction with the company’s Tru-View Technology, a next-generation dynamic filter that analyzes web content in real time versus conventional filters that rely on static and fixed lists of known URLs.

Availability and Pricing The Bloxx Web Browser or iOS is available now free from the Apple iTunes Store. To provide filtering the Bloxx Web Browser must be used in conjunction with a Bloxx Web Filter or Bloxx Secure Web Gateway.
